CHRISTIAN CANCER RETREAT DAY JULY 13thThere will be a Christian Retreat Day at Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church on July 13th for people affected by cancer. This is run by Firm Roots Cancer Support, an organisation that provides cancer prayer and support online and in various locations in the UK. It is led by Firm Root founder, Rev. Helen Jones, a curate who has had cancer herself and worked with Macmillan and NHS cancer care. The Reatreat Day is free and runs from 10.00am – 4.00pm. To register go to www.firmroots.org.uk

SAINT OF THE WEEK Saint Irenaeus  Bishop, Doctor of the Church, Martyr  (130 – 202) Irenaeus was a disciple of Saint Polycarp of Smyrna. At a time when Gnostic sects threatened to undermine Christianity by perversion of Christian thought, Saint Irenaeus vigorously denounced all heresies and safeguarded unity of belief. He succeeded the martyred Saint Pothinus in the See of Lyons. His feast is celebrated on June 28th.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK IN OUR PARISH – May the Lord grant them consolation, peace and healing and to all involved in health care in hospital or in the community, grace, strength and perseverance.
